National Presbyterian College Scholarship
for 2009 Rising College Freshmen
Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be an active member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Must be preparing to enter as a full-time freshman (Fall 2008) in a participating college or university related to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
  • Must demonstrate financial need

The Flynn Education Foundation is able to offer assistance to a limited number of selected undergraduate Virginia, West Virginia or North Carolina students. Some of the requirements to apply include:

  • Essay detailing "your plan for your life". Essay should include how your future career is considered "Christian service".
  • 3 letters of recommendation from a teacher, your minister and someone else.
  • A copy of your SARS report or financial aid package.
  • A copy of college transcripts (if already enrolled).
  • Incoming Freshmen (high school seniors) provide high school transcripts & ACT/SAT scores.
  • Applications must be mailed before April 22.
  • Please contact the King College Financial Aid office for an application with instructions.

The John Gyles Education Awards are available each year to students in both Canada and the U.S. Those selected will receive up to $3,000.00. The application requirements are as follows:

  • Student must be enrolled full-time at (or accepted to) a college or university as an undergraduate or graduate student.. (High School seniors may apply pending acceptance.)
  • Applicants must have a GPA of 2.7 on a scale of 4.0 and must also have citizenship in U.S. or Canada.
  • Criteria other than strictly academic ability and financial need are considered in the selection process.

The Sallie Mae Fund will award more than $2.3 milliion in college scholarships to approximately 1,000 students who are attending college this academic year.
