American Studies
The American Studies major is an interdisciplinary program which enables a
student to gain a broad and systematic view of American life and culture in
depth. It emphasizes an understanding of the relationships among institutions,
ideas, and events within the American experience and promotes integrative
consideration of the totality of American history and life. It is an attractive
major for all those who wish to gain a broader understanding and appreciation
for American life and culture, and to those who desire to teach the English
language and American culture overseas.
"The American Studies program provides students with a marvelous opportunity to experience and explore the richness and
variety of American culture -- its history, society, literature, the arts, popular culture."
--Dr. William J. Wade
