King College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate and masters degrees. It is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, the Tennessee College Association, the Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities, the Appalachian College Association, the Tennessee Fund for Independent Colleges, the Council for Independent Colleges, the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, the Association of Presbyterian Colleges and Universities, the Holston Associated Libraries, and the Tennessee Association of Colleges of Teacher Education.

The teacher education programs are approved by the Tennessee State Board of Education and the athletic program is approved by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics with membership in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. The Nursing program is approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing and is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
